Northwest BAME Anti-racist Framework
Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (MWL) have signed up and are committed to the Northwest BAME Anti-racist Framework which has been introduced by the North West West Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Assembly (the Assembly) and NHS England (NHSE) Northwest.
At MWL we have decided to introduce the framework as we believe that the NHS should be unapologetically anti-racist and we should take positive action to eliminate racism in our organisation, stand with our colleagues when they experience racism, and eradicate the inequalities in access, outcomes, and experience of health care that some of our communities’ face. The Northwest BAME Anti-racist Framework will support the organisation in its ambition in working towards becoming actively anti-racist and take action to reduce the inequalities we still see every day across our workforce and to become intentionally anti-racist.
Becoming an intentionally anti-racist organisation is a continuous journey and to start our journey at MWL we would like to introduce MWL's anti-racist statement and commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation. We would like as many patients, patient relatives and their visitors as possible to share their views and ideas of the anti-racist statement and commitment by answering a few questions on a questionnaire, which is available here https://forms.office.com/e/nxYT6GcvZD
The questionnaire has a summary of the anti-racist statement and commitment.
However, prior to completing the form please read the full anti-racist statement which is available to view here :
Consultation for the Antiracist Statement and Commitment will be open until 31st May 2025
