New state-of-the-art therapy centre opens at Ormskirk Hospital

Patients at Ormskirk Hospital are benefiting from a new state-of-the-art treatment centre.

The Ruff Lane Therapy Centre opened its doors to patients this month and is already proving to be a big hit with patients and staff.

The centre, which has been built on the site of a former education centre, provides upgraded facilities at Ormskirk with 23 clinical cubicles, a gym and an extensive waiting area for patients as well as changing and refreshment facilities for staff.

Laura Atherton, Consultant Physiotherapy Service lead, said: “It is a wonderful building that will help us deliver our services in a spacious, modern environment.

“The new cubicles have been designed to provide more privacy and dignity for patients and the waiting room is far more open, more accessible and more comfortable than it was before.

“Staff are also benefiting from better facilities such as showers and storage areas and the feedback we have had so far from patients and colleagues has been fantastic.’’

Lesley Neary, Chief Operating Officer for Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, added: “The development of the Ruff Lane Therapy Unit is a major boost for patients.

“It is a fantastic facility which will help us drive forward our therapy services and ensure we continue to provide the best care possible for our patients.’’
