It’s official, St Helens Hospital has the best bloomin’ gardens in the region!

St Helens Hospital has won the Best Hospital Gardens Award at the prestigious ‘Northwest in Bloom’ awards.

Organisers of the Chelsea Flower Show, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), have once again crowned St Helens Hospital as ‘Best Hospital’ and awarded Whiston Hospital Gold.

This is the 14th consecutive win for our local hospitals that between them have held the top spot since 2011 scooping an impressive 35 gardening awards in the years that followed for their stunning landscapes. Both sites feature vibrant and cheerful floral displays that offer a much-welcomed distraction to patients and visitors who regularly comment on the beautiful environment.

The creative landscapers at local company David J Platt Landscapes Limited, are the talent behind the uplifting green space overlooking the hospitals.

David Platt shared his pride in the achievement: ‘’We are incredibly proud to be awarded Best Hospital again. It is always a fantastic achievement that shows the dedication of our team, who have worked tirelessly throughout the summer.

Seeing everyone enjoy and benefit from the beautiful gardens around the hospital fills us with pride and motivates us to keep creating a welcoming, healing environment for all.”

Chief executive of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the organisation that manages the hospitals, Rob Cooper is equally proud to receive this recognition, “Our gardens are more than just beautiful spaces, they offer comfort, peace, and a sense of hope to everyone who walks through our doors. I am delighted the care and dedication of our incredible gardeners and estates team has been recognised by the RHS and would like to share my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude with them all.”
